These charcoal drawings and watercolour studies will then be worked on in the studio, with attendees completing several interpretive scenes in acrylic paint to be displayed in the local community. The group has sole use of the venue, which is centered on an central patio and has a roof terrace with panoramic vistas over the countryside. The cost encompasses five days’ painting tuition; all meals; and an outing to the nearby fortress and other points of interest.

Plant-Based Cooking in the Algarve
This sun-drenched culinary holiday, based at a riverside villa in the central Portuguese region, is inspired by the plant-based cuisine of celebrated cooks. Guests will master the art of selection of small dishes, attend a hands-on falafel session, refine mid-morning meals such as shakshuka, and make hearty mains including a rich mushroom stew and moussaka. The schedule includes visits to the local market and a local vineyard to sample Portuguese wines, combined with leisure time for walks by the nearby river, to unwind on the terrace or swim in the infinity pool. The farmhouse, a former farmhouse, has five bedrooms, as well as glamping tents in the grounds.

This coastal town is the ideal setting for a sea shanty weekend. Participants will learn traditional shanties from a experienced musician, and try their hand at composing original ones. There will be voice exercises, breathing exercises, performance tips and a final evening concert. The retreat is based at a country house overlooking St Ives Bay. All meals are included, such as a Cornish cream tea on the first day, cooked or continental breakfasts, packed lunches and three-course dinners. Grog, alas, is not provided. Writing in Greece
Author and lecturer Greg Mosse leads the daily workshops on this writing retreat. He explores topics including plot, character development, locations and tension, to sending manuscripts to publishers. A co-host, the well-known writer Kate Mosse, will participate in special sessions at the start and finish of the retreat. The holiday is based at a traditional complex in Vamos at the base of the Lefka Ori – ten private accommodations surround a garden and pool (non-writing partners are encouraged to come along). On the last night, aspiring writers mark the occasion with a concert in the courtyard and a farewell dinner.

Introduction to Apiculture in Mid Wales
The Centre for Alternative Technology near Machynlleth runs a wide range of programs covering sustainability: from creating habitats to upcycling. This weekend introduction will help participants learn the fundamentals of apiary management, explore the biology of bees and learn about their ecological importance. It is aimed at produce “ecologically mindful beekeepers”. This course is also a chance to de-stress in the organization's sustainably managed forests, which are home to wildlife, otters, dormice, lesser horseshoe bats and rare birds. These recently launched weekend sailing courses are spent on Wayfarers and keelboats on the estuary in Essex.
