Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Tragic Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos stated on Wednesday evening. The fighter was involved in a car accident near Lagos on Monday, a tragic incident that claimed the lives of two of his team members.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, representatives stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post online that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.
“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.
Remembering the Victims
The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and deeply emotional over the loss of his two trusted companions.”
The news of his discharge follows the boxing community offered sympathy for the champion in the following the heartbreaking incident.
