Comedian and author David Walliams dropped by book publisher.

David Walliams

Prolific writer for children and TV personality David Walliams has been dropped by his longtime publishing house, the company has said.

An official for the publisher stated: "After careful consideration, and under the leadership of its recently appointed chief executive, HarperCollins UK has chosen to cease publishing future works by David Walliams."

Reports indicate that the move was taken subsequent to an investigation into claims about conduct deemed unsuitable involving women.

The company declined to specify the reasons for its decision, stating: "It is not our policy to discuss internal matters."

A Highly Successful Publishing History

Walliams ranks among Britain's most successful children's authors, with sales exceeding in excess of 60 million copies internationally in 55 languages.

The debut children's novel from Walliams, *The Boy in the Dress*, was released through HarperCollins fifteen years ago.

Several of his titles, for example *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have subsequently been turned into small-screen adaptations.

He has published in excess of 40 works altogether, encompassing a Christmas book titled *Santa & Son*, which was published by HarperCollins in October.

Television and Literature

He first rose to fame on the broadcast sketch program *Little Britain* and has also won National Television Awards for his duties as an arbiter on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He was made an OBE back in 2017 for his services to philanthropic and artistic endeavors.

The publisher's decision comes after the naming of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's recent CEO in October.
