World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second straight year.

The twenty-seven-year-old secured four titles – the highest tally on the circuit – including retaining the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to claim her fourth career Grand Slam singles title.

A Year of Consistency

Across the season, Sabalenka competed in a circuit-leading nine finals, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.

The star player also claimed victory at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She remained the whole season as the world number one, ending 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.

In July, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Historic Numbers

Sabalenka finished the season with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and collected a record £11m in earnings.

She received nearly 80% of the votes cast by global tennis journalists.

Later this month, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match with the aim of "raise women's tennis to a new level".

Other WTA Award Honorees

• Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, was voted after taking 13-month break following the arrival of her daughter and making her comeback to the sport at the start of this year.
• Newcomer of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko received the award after beginning the season ranked beyond the world's top 300 and climbing to the eighteenth spot.
• Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after securing their second Grand Slam title as a pair.
• Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after making five finals.

Last week, Carlos Alcaraz secured three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was voted the fan favorite for a third consecutive time.
